Hi ,
I think O-Mail & E-mail should be connected to each other!
Most people coming from ebay are under the expression that if a seller/buyer sends them a note they will receive it in their e-mail inbox, so many don't even check their O-Mails!
For example: invoices created by sellers go to O-Mail of the buyer! What if the buyer does not check their O-mail & waiting to receive a direct invoice in their e-mail??

I wonder if there is an option somewhere to have things sent to both?
I do get a message in my email if I have an unread O-mail and I think that was something I had to setup in Profile or Preferences or whatever they call it. _________________ Lorieo

I had a sale on the 22nd and I sent an invoice. Then an email reminding them to check their o-mail. Still no response. it's a customer from eBay so I know they are a good one but they may never come back to ola! LOL
So do it just forget it or what? I have omailed AND emailed. _________________ hugs

Even if you click "email", if the person you're sending it to, doesn't have their email linked to their Omail, it won't go to their email.
I think it should be mandatory that a person has an email contact in order to purchase on OLA. Not that WE (the seller) has to have it, but that OLA sends correspondence to them.
that's one of the things about OLA that really bugs me. I want my omails to come to my email too. _________________ xo Maddy |

These are great suggestions - OLA should hear them for sure! _________________ ~Faerydae

Well, OLA does send me an email letting me know when I've won and also if I have o-mail waiting. The only thing I wish it did have was a link to go to it...well,there again, it DOES have a link, but not a clickable one highlighted, so I have to copy paste it in the address bar to go there. (It's on my list of things to talk about there)
I like that it has an option to send to either someone's o-mail or email. I suppose before you send it to one, you could copy/paste it again to send the other way at the same time, but perhaps ola can give us the option to also send to BOTH.
I'm finding I really like o-mail. For one thing I feel it's more private than my email.
Colleen....if you sent an email to the seller, I'd be very suspicious that s/he's telling you something Unless their pc happens to be down. I'd try to send another email to them. If you don't hear in another week after that, I think I'd relist. WAIT....did I bid on it? SECOND CHANCE! ROFL! |

See, but the problem with the o-mail e-mail thingy is that it says right where you click it, that if the person you are sending the email to, doesn't have their preferences set up to receive o-mail through their email, it will still just go to Omail.
So always click email, because it'll go to their email if they have it set up that way, and if not it'll go to their o-mail.
Sorry to sound gronky....but I think this is really confusing have it this way with the o-mail and the e-mail. it's really easy to forget to go to a website, but it's not easy to forget to read the email that you open up every day. _________________ xo Maddy |

HI Maddy,
I think I see now what your saying. I just took a copy of my perferred email settings....
~~~
To cut down on the amount of email our members received, we have made numerous changes to our email configuration screen to allow you to choose exactly what arrives in your inbox. The most exciting of these new options is the Daily OLA Digest, which will arrive once, every day, with all the information you choose to include.
Select Preferred Email Format
I prefer to receive my E-mail formatted as HTML
I prefer to receive my E-mail formatted as Text
Email Preferences
Display my E-Mail address in Auction Manager of bidders or sellers when I receive or place bids meeting minimum/reserve.
Allow OnlineAuction.com Members to send O-Mail directly to my E-Mail Account.
Send me Updates and promotions from OLA.com
Select Daily Digest Features
Buyer Features
Auctions I won always required
New Bids placed by me.
Auctions I was outbid on.
Auctions I did not win but are relisting.
Auctions I bid on but were cancelled.
Auctions I bid on but were suspended.
Summary of all my active bids.
Miscellaneous
Notify me when I have unread O-mail always required
Auctions matching my wishlist.
Include my unread O-mail (which counts as reading it).
Select Email Alerts
Send me a separate email detailing any billing activity on my account always required
Send me an email immediately when I win an auction.
Send me an email immediately when I am outbid.
Send me an email immediately when an auction I bid on is ending early.
Send me an email immediately when an auction I bookmarked is ending early.
Send me an email immediately when a suspended auction I bid on is resumed.
Send me an email immediately when a seller cancels my bid on their auction.
~~~
I've clicked on nearly all of these options.
Unfortunately I've run into several people who have NOT been reading their options....and because they aren't, they either think the site must suck or the options aren't available. That bugs me tho, because over the years they've read ebay's...who has LOADS of pages that can be confusing! If people would just read what's available at ola....grrrr...
I think OLA assumes they are reading. Hmmm, do you think the best thing we can do is ask ola if they can make it available to send to both o-mail and e-mail at one time?
OTOH, There are 3 of the above which are NOT options. They are already checked by ola. They are that OLA sends a daily digest on...
1. Auctions I won (always required) (through email)
2. Notify me when I have unread O-mail (always required)
3. Send me a separate email detailing any billing activity on my account (always required).
Considering the above are done (and I know I receive them, always), in Colleen's case with the unpaid customer...there's no excuse (short of hospitalization) that this person can say they didn't know they won.
Hokay Colleen...whose the deadbeat that didn't pay up or ackowledge? LOL. |

LOL, she is NOT a deadbeat., hehehe she just isn't used to the new system. She has contacted me and paid me and apologized for her not realizing what was going on. She is sweet and has purchased before from eBay. I just mentioned this because it is an example of how we are all on this learning curve of learning a new system.
It's all good! _________________ hugs

Whewwww...thank goodness all worked out well Colleen.
I was kidding, so sorry about the deadbeat thing, lol
For me I found that if I clicked on everything along that top yellow border in ola, and read each of them, it really helped in getting my bearings. Now if it has anything to do with photo's, linking, etc., I'd be dead in the woods! LOL
I hope your buyer didn't get discouraged and revisits you there again.
