I think it would be great if you could really truly just browse the categories.
For instance, I wanted to buy SOMETHING from someone I didn't know on OLA just so I could see how they "do it" you know?
So I went to crafts----and I would have loved to been able to just browse all the listings in crafts, but I couldn't. I had to either pick a search term, or go sub-cat to sub-cat all the way down the list just to see what was there.
And there's a category for stickers (which you all know I LOVE) but there were no listings, but sure enough, there were some in the scrapbooking section, which I missed last week, but luckily found last night.

I have to say I'm having a little trouble finding things too.
I guess I just need more practice _________________ Lorieo

Ok, I haven't had trouble finding things, BUT, I have noticed there are other catagories that ought to be listed on the left where it says 'similar items (or catagories).
If you put into the ola search 'stamps', or anything else, does it come up for you?
Oh shoot, where did I put that post to add upgrades we'd like to see at ola? geez, even I can't recall now. LOL |

I think it would increase exposure for everybody if the categories were in a multi-level organization so you could use the drilling down method of searching.
Sometimes we want a broader search - it feels like there is more choice and we find things we didn't know we needed. I've often stumbled upon things in a broad search that I ended up buying.
Its really a matter of organizing categories and subcategories.
The top category OOAK would bring up all OOAKs (dolls, animals, babies, supplies etc)
If you click on OOAK: Art Dolls, all all dolls fantasy, nude, babies etc would all come up
Clicking on Fantasy within that string would make just the fantasy items come up.
I think that is one of the reasons new people come over and find it confusing. They have to KNOW what they are looking for and you can't really just browse around. It takes a lot of the fun out of shopping if you have to know what you want before you get to look at what the choices are. _________________ Lorieo

I agree, we also need to slim down the amount of categories.
We need to start a new thread and get some feedback on this. _________________ hugs

I went to wander around to look at clothing and it was really cumbersome. You have to go into each little category - frustrating. It makes it seem listings are a lot scarcer than they are. _________________ Lorieo

Yup, I agree...we need to slim down the catagories, too many and listings do look scarcer. Colleen, do you want us to start a whole different thread for discussion of this?
Also, I ran into one yesterday I wanted to browse the whole catagory, couldn't...had to pick one.
K, I've got to start getting all these notes together, now that we're accumulating, lol. |

oops, I already started a new one for the category slimming.
I really want input and involvement, It's pretty important.
Should I send out a mass email?
I do hope that they are going to fix how the searching is done in this new reprogramming thing. That really needs fixed. I don't think changed is the correct term for it cuz it is broke!!! _________________ hugs

OMG Colleen...she thinks she's a sculpt...your cooking yourself in the microwave! LOL. Hey, you only have 5 seconds to get out, then you'll
blow up!
I'm gonna hide BEHIND you... LOL
Ahhh, I didn't know you could send mass emails! YES, I'd suggest mass emails for this...and the advertising. Ask everyone to get involved in these 2. The more the merrier.
Ok, I just got back on since this morning, I'll go search, but if I miss it, where's the seperate thread for the catagories?
What's broke on the search??
I've got an idea to look more professional and prepared when I go in...gotta get all this down to some specifics. With back-ups
OH, on my name....welllllll, my mommy, hehe, told me it's suppose to be Vickie, with the 'e'. My grandmother use to make fun of it being spelled that way, sooooo, partly cause of that and part laziness, I often just leave the 'e' off. Now, when I use to work for someone else, my bosses had learned I often "didn't hear them" when they called me, BUT, if they said "Victoriaaaa"...I instantly jumped to attention. LOL.
Sooooo...I respond to any of them (unless your the boss and I'm ignoring you, then Victoria works, lol), all or any will work.
